On Monday 12 July, the British Consulate-General Shanghai invited volunteers from Shanghai Roots & Shoots to a VIP picnic at the Shanghai Expo’s UK pavilion. Rebecca Zheng, Shirley Xu and Wang Sijia joined this picnic.

On arrival at the pavilion, they were greeted with a personal tour of the UK pavilion. Along route, they learnt more about the award winning seed cathedral and the concept behind the pavilion design. After the tour, they had a relaxing and cheerful picnic with some drinks and picnic nibbles in the pavilion ’s parkland area. They interacted with community walker-actors before leaving the pavilion.
